A FEW TIPS FOR OPEN BURNING
- Only burn natural vegetation in its natural state. Permitted items include brush, tree limbs, leaves, grass clippings, etc. Please do not burn any household trash, construction waste, cardboard, carpet, tires, building materials, furniture, wiring, or other items.
- Keep an eye on the weather. Don’t burn on dry, windy days.
- Please don’t burn near upslopes. Fire travels uphill very quickly and can become out of control.
- Please stay with your fire the entire time that it is burning. You may not leave you fire unattended at any time.
- Burn small piles instead of large piles. Small piles burn out quicker and are easier to maintain.
- Please keep a means of putting the fire out with you while you are burning (garden hose, bucket of water, fire extinguisher, etc.).
- Please keep your cell phone near you when burning. If your fire gets out of control, please call 911 quickly for assistance.
IT IS ALWAYS ILLEGAL TO BURN HOUSEHOLD TRASH OR ANYTHING OTHER THAN NAUTRAL VEGETATIVE MATTER IN ITS NATURAL STATE.
